OBCE Bulldogs OBCMS Falcons8th Grade Adventure Trip Fundraising

Each year, eighth grade students participate in a class trip. Students from previous years have traveled to Boston, Washington, Williamsburg, and New York City. In May, 2019, the eighth grade class of 2019 plans to travel to Washington, DC for their Adventure Trip. This trip is an invaluable learning experience for the students, not just while they are on the trip, but throughout the entire school year. The students are held to very high expectations and are expected to meet those expectations in order to participate in the trip. One of the many things that the eighth graders are expected to do is raise enough money for the class to go on the trip. They are already hard at work preparing for activities that will help raise enough money to pay for this trip. Many students would not be able to participate in the Adventure Trip were it not for the fundraising support. They will be conducting numerous fundraisers throughout the 2018-19 school year including Add-On Days, selling concessions at the Hoe Down and Trunk-or-Treat, working the concession stands at Cleveland Browns games, and of course, participating in the annual Read-A-Thon as well as the students versus staff Fools' Day Challenge basketball game. Please note that these fundraisers are independent of the fundraisers put on by the PTT.

Over the past several years, elementary and middle school families have graciously supported the eighth graders of Old Brooklyn Community Middle School as they strived to raise funds to help defray the nearly $30,000 cost for their Adventure Trip. Families have participated in dress-down days, bought pies, cookie dough, candy bars, and watched the students take on the staff in ten basketball games. They have also sponsored our students as they pledged to read for five hours in the annual Read-A-Thon. We could not be more grateful for all of the support from the Old Brooklyn Community!

The cost of the Adventure Trip is reduced for all participants each year due to the support of elementary and middle school families, knowing that there will be support in the later years when it's time for them to go on their Adventure Trip, to help defray their costs!

As one of the 8th Grade fundraisers, students in all grades will be permitted to "add-on" to their uniforms one time per month. Below is a schedule of add-on days for the 2018-19 school year (the add-on days are also listed on the PTT calendar on this Website). Eighth grade students will collect $1 from every student who wishes to participate in the add-on days, and that money will be used to help fund their Adventure Trip to Washington, DC.

As it has been done in the past, you may elect to pay on the add-on days, or you may pay for the whole year in advance. We are extremely grateful to all of our students that participate in add-on days.

Please read the information below regarding add-on days. The eighth grade students of OBCMS are truly grateful for the experiences that they have as a result of your support. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Mrs. Cherie' Kaiser or Mrs. Kristina Scott.
